Dorothea Joan Ross

Ross, Dorothea Joannides, 90, of Pawtucket,RI,
most recently of South Portland ME passed away on Monday, November 16 2015 at St Andre's Medical Center in Biddeford,ME. Dorothea was born in New York City  
on August 25th 1925. She was the daughter of Helen Kouvaris Joannides and George Joannides. Both of her parents were Greek immigrants and she and her brothers, Philip George Joannides and Anthony Joannides were the first generation to be born in America. Dorothy was born in New York City and soon after, the family moved to Watertown MA. She attended Boston University and worked as a secretary for Jordan Marsh. She was married toTimothy Ross of Saco ME for 39 years until his death in 1995. They raised 4 children in Pawtucket RI; Georgette Ross Hutchins of Peace Dale RI, George Ross of Peach Tree, Georgia, Timothy Ross Jr. of Foster RI and Stephanie Ross of South Portland ME. She has several loving grandchildren.Dorothea was heavily involved in the Greek Church Community and served for the Daughters of Penelope and the National Philoptochos Society. She carried on with most of these activities before moving to Maine in 2002. Dorothy loved to sing... anyone who knew her, knew what a beautiful voice she had. She loved to sing in the church choir and was always singing no matter where she was. Services for Dorothea will be held at The Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church at 97 Walcott St. Pawtucket Rhode island On Friday, November 20, 2015 at 12:00 noon.

Calling hours will be Nov. 20 at 11:00 at the church with a funeral beginning at 12:00. Burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery will follow immediately after.
