Gertrude E. (Kelley) Smith

Gertrude E. Smith of Pawtucket died on March 15, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Councilman Bernard J. Smith Jr..

Mrs. Smith was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late John Francis Kelley and Sabina (Loughran) Kelley. She was the circulation manager at the Pawtucket Public Library for over twenty years and a dedicated volunteer at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital's gift shop.

Mrs. Smith was the beloved mother of her children; Sharon Smith Hansen and her husband Bruce of Tiverton, T. Kelley Lundstrom and husband Gary of Rehoboth, MA, Michael Bernard Smith and wife Deborah of Woodstock, CT, Stephen F. Smith and wife Denise of Rehoboth, MA, and Bernard J. Smith III and his partner Debra of Cumberland.   She also leaves her grandchildren; Bliss, Harmony, Tara, Daniel, Timothy, Terry, Melanie, Kathleen, Jen, Nicole, Seth, Matthew, Erik and her great grandchildren, Brady, Adam Joseph, and Isobel.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Smith on Wednesday, March 18, at 11:00 am in Holy Family Parish Church, Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Her burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Attleboro, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gertrude’s memory can be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA  01202.
