Sister Mary Gehring

Sister Mary of the Incarnation (Order of Discalced Carmel), 89, passed into eternal life on May 16, 2021.  She entered the Carmelites on November 15, 1952.  Sr. Mary was born in Baltimore Maryland, a daughter of the late John Gehring Sr. and Dorothea (O’Brien) Gehring. Sister graduated from Mount St.Agnes High School and Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Sr. Mary was the sister of the late Dorothea Yursik, John William Gehring, Jr. and James D. Gehring.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Mary in St. Luke’s Church, 108 Washington Road, Barrington on Thursday, May 20th at 11:00 AM.  Calling hours in the church will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  Her burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence immediately following.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sister Mary's memory to the Alzheimer's Association of Rhode and Carmelite Sisters.
