Maria Helena (Pavao) Fernandes

Maria Helena Fernandes, 89, of Providence, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Miriam Hospital on February 24th, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Manuel “Remigio” Fernandes for 60 years. Mrs. Fernandes was born in Sao Miguel, Portugal, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Jose Pavao.

Mrs. Fernandes leaves behind a devoted family, survived by her children: Mario J. Fernandes of Exeter, RI, and his companion, Marae Tesi, Otilia "Tillie" Nobrega and husband John L. Nobrega of Cumberland, and Maria L. Davey and her husband, William Grady of Marco Island, FL. She also leaves four grandchildren: Amanda Fernandes, Tiffany Fernandes, Derek Nobrega D.M.D., his wife Janelle and Tyler Davey, and a great granddaughter Celia Nobrega.

Mrs. Fernandes is also survived by her loving sister, Leonilde Cabral. She is also the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.

The funeral for Mrs. Fernandes will be from the MANNING-HEFFERN Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Church, 32 lawn Avenue, Pawtucket, on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Her burial will be in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery in Pawtucket. The calling hours for Mrs. Fernandes will be Wednesday, February 27th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
