Lucy Gregory Obituary

Lucy T. (Denelle) Gregory, 100, passed away on March 20, at Warren Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Warren, Rhode island. Lucy received extraordinary care for the past four years there. we extend profound gratitude to the caring staff as well as the dedicated team from Beacon Hospice, especially her angel, Janet Ventura.

Mrs. Gregory was the daughter of the late desire and Marie Denelle. She was the wife of the late Raymond J. Gregory and the late Augustus M. Cariaggi. She spent most of her life in Pawtucket before moving to Barrington twenty seven years ago.

Lucy is survived by her daughter Susan Gregory Silvia and her husband Frank M. Silvia III of Seekonk, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gregory was the mother of the late William J. Gregory, formerly of Aurora, Colorado, Raymond J. Gregory, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Gary F. Gregory, formerly of East Providence, Rhode island.

Mrs. Gregory was active in many civic groups, serving on numerous Committees. She was a Memorial Hospital Corporation member, as well as a member of its Auxiliary.

She was a former member of the Pawtucket Garden Club, the Providence Figure Skating Club, and the Wannamoisett Country Club. Lucy was a member of the Barrington Woman's Club, and Linden Place in Bristol. She was a founder of the Convent of the Sacred Heart Elmhurst Fair, held on the Portsmouth Campus. Mrs. Gregory was a figure skating judge throughout New England for the USFSA. she served on the Public Relations Committee for the USFSA and was Hospitality Chairman for the 1974 Nationals held at the Providence Civic Center. she worked as the Assistant to the Dean of Student Affairs at Brown University from 1968-1973. traveling, playing bridge and golf were her favorite pastimes. She played duplicate bridge at the Barrington Senior Center and at the Rhode Island Country Club for many years.

The service and burial for Mrs. Gregory will be private.
