Fernando Cabrera of Pawtucket, RI. passed into eternal life on November 22, 2020 at 5:59pm.
He was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala on May 30, 1931, the son of the late Juan Cabrera Lopez and Concepcion Guzman de Cabrera, and brother to late sister Rosa Cabrera.
Employment: Factory Worker, and Custodian for Naval Base
He loved traveling and exploring new places around the world. But his favorite way to travel was either visiting family or traveling with family and friends. His catch phrase was "Traveling is living." He was an amazing cook, he enjoyed cooking typical Guatemalan cuisine, but his palette didn’t stop there; he loved food from all places.
Later in his years he loved eating healthy and would make fresh celery and carrot juice daily. He would prep the celery and carrots the night before and would start his morning routine with a fresh glass of celery juice. He would always say “Life is beautiful”, and so he grabbed life by the bull’s horns and made a choice to be healthy and exercise every day.
He enjoyed watching soccer and other competitive sports. He did not like being interrupted so if he received a friendly call he would politely say “I’ll call you back in ten minutes”.
He had a heart of gold, always willing and ready to help family and friends. He taught many of his nieces and nephews how to drive, cook and instill work ethics. He was always positive and shared his wisdom with everyone. He was an amazing son, brother, cousin, uncle, father, grandfather, great uncle, partner, and friend.
In 1985, he came to terms with his alcoholism and embarked on a journey of sobriety. During the course of his sobriety, he took initiative, and together with his best friend Luis Molina, became founders of one of the Spanish speaking AA Groups in Central Falls, RI. There he became a mentor, a counselor, a coach, a friend, a brother, a sponsor, an associate. He was a spiritual entity, always wanting what is best for people. His favorite pastime after every meeting was Dunkin’ Donuts, his tradition continued until the very last day that he could go…we say Cheers to that!
Mr. Fernando Cabrera is survived by his partner of 16 years, Nora Molina. His children; Luis Cabrera and (daughter-in-law) Blanca Elizabeth Cabrera, Alma Cabrera, Byron Fernando Cabrera, Doris Judith Velázquez and (son-in-law) Carlos Velázquez and Estella Cabrera.

He often spoke of them highly and appreciated them with all his heart.

Obituario
