Sr. Normagene Gillespie

Sister Normagene Gillespie, a professed member for 42 years of the Carmelite community in Barrington, died July 6, 2018 in Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness.  Sr. Normagene was born in Portsmouth, NH on October 7, 1931 to James and Pearl (Craig) Gillespie.  She is predeceased by her sister Jackie.  She received a BA from the University of NH and a Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina. Before entering she taught Physical Education and worked at an insurance company.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Sr. Normagene in the Carmelite Monastery Chapel, 25 Watson Avenue, Barrington on Thursday, July 12th at 10:00 am. Her calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-6 pm in the Carmelite Chapel  and Thursday the 12th from 8:30 – 9:30 AM prior to the Mass.
