Laura Louise Balcom was called home on August 19, 2017. She was born February 3, 1920 in Apponaug, Rhode Island and is of Narragansett decent. She was the daughter of the late Walter L. Waite and Lettie H. (Robinson) Waite she was the wife of the late Albert Aubrey Balcom. Laura is survived by her brother, William Franklin Waite. She is preceded in death by her four sisters, the late Cynthia Jackson, Dorothy Carr, Marjorie Turner, Clara Hampton and her brother, the late Clarence Waite. Laura also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and a host of family member and friends.
Throughout her life, Laura has held various jobs including; a crane operator at the Shipyard during World War II, a Home Healthcare Aid and she owned her own laundry “Laura’s Hand Laundry.” Laura is a member of Union Baptist Church in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Among her many hobbies, Laura enjoyed sewing and she was very creative with arts & crafts.
The funeral for Mrs. Balcom will be Friday, August 25th at 11:00 am in the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. Her calling hours will be on Friday morning from 9:00 am prior to the service. For online condolences please visit www.manningheffern.com.
