Joseph A. Cherry, 71 of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts. He passed unexpectedly into eternal life on August 21, 2019 from complications of Parkinson’s. He was the husband of Ann Melanie (Hird) Cherry. They had been married 50 years.
Mr. Cherry was born in Cumberland, raised in Pawtucket, the son of the late Joseph C. Cherry and Rose (McElroy) Cherry. He lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New Jersey. Mr Cherry served in the Marine Corps for 24 years in active duty in the Pacific and in Massachusetts reserves, retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. Mr. Cherry worked as Vice President of International Operations at CR Bard and retired in 2010.
Besides his wife Melanie, Joe is survived by his sons; Jonathan Cherry and his wife Helen of Littleton, Massachusetts, Jason Cherry and his wife Nicole of Barrington, Rhode Island and Ryan Cherry and his wife Jennifer of Middletown, Rhode Island. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Reed, Evan, Eliza, Renee, Noelle, Adam, and Joseph.
The funeral for Mr. Cherry will be Tuesday at 9:00 am from the Manning-Heffern Funeral home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa’s Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket at 10:00 am.
His calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
