McHale, James E. 92, of Jacksonville, Florida, died peacefully on January 23, 2017.  He was the beloved husband of Margaret E. McHale for over 67 years. Born in Pawtucket, on October 24, 1924 to John L. and Genevieve McHale, James graduated from St. Raphael Academy and attended Brown University.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Corps of Engineers in the Philippines and Japan. Following the war, he met and married Margaret, the love of his life. James spent his entire career working for the family business, J.J McHale and Pawtucket Ready Mix (PRM); becoming Vice President in later years. James enjoyed operating all sorts of heavy equipment and was an expert in concrete mix design. Although never trained as a mechanic, James had a natural ability for understanding and repairing engines. This skill was very helpful when his children were young drivers. His mechanical aptitude also came in handy when he earned his private pilot’s license.  James and Margaret flew all over the East Coast and Florida where they made their second home. Their retirement was spent traveling, golfing, and enjoying time with their children. James was a patient and loving caretaker to Margaret as she battled Alzheimer’s disease. James is survived by his three children, Ellen McHale Morse and her husband, Dwight, of Jacksonville who lovingly cared for him for the past four years, Michael McHale and his wife, Janet of Providence, and Phyllis McHale of Riverside. He leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. James was also a brother to the late John and Frank McHale. Services will be June 30 at 10 am at St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, RI In lieu of flowers, check your oil and tire pressure - he would have wanted that.
