Irene (Domingos) Lourenco

Irene Lourenco, 93, passed away at Steere House Nursing Home on January 9, 2019 in the arms of her daughters with the support of the Steere House staff who loved and cared for her.  She was the wife of Albertino Lourenco. They shared 67 years of marriage.  Irene was born and raised in Pawtucket. She was the daughter of Manuel and Maria Ceu Domingos. 

She is survived by her children, Carol Barros and her husband John, Mary Ann Casavant and her husband Gene and Augustino Lourenco.  She was a loving grandmother to Jennifer Scott, John Barros Jr, Ashley Achin and Jacob Casavant and great grandmother to Lexi Scott, Ava Scott, Greyson Barros, Jaxson Barros and Cecilia Irene Achin.  They were her pride and joy.  She is predeceased by her siblings Norbert Domingos, Beatrice Vedo and Joseph Domingos.

Irene attended Pawtucket Schools and worked for the family business, Lourenco’s Valley Restaurant in Cumberland and later the Pawtucket school lunch program. She will be remembered most for her love of family and friends who had a standing invitation to gather around the family pool on Sundays through the summers.  Irene loved a good party.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Irene on Monday, January 14th at 10:00 am in St. Teresa’s Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. She will be laid to rest in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket.  The calling hours will be Sunday from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway Pawtucket.
