Eleanor Marie (Strahan) Canavan

February 19, 1939 ~ September 9, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old


Eleanor M. Canavan of Pawtucket passed into eternal life on September 9, 2017.

Mrs. Canavan was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Gabriel Strahan and Alice Roe. She was the stepdaughter of the late Ellery Roe.

Eleanor was a pediatric secretary at the Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket for many years. Following her retirement, she was a coat checker at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln.

Mrs. Canavan is survived by her children; Deborah Daw of Central Falls, Robert Canavan and his wife Lindy of Buffalo, New York, Thomas Canavan and his wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, Georgia, Barbara Sweetman and her husband Alfred of Pawtucket,  David Canavan and his wife Xiangye of Hopkinton, Massachusetts and Doreen Boisclair and her husband Mark of Pawtucket.

Eleanor is also survived by her grandchildren Ian, Ryan and his wife Kerri, Gregory, Nicholle, Dylan and Kenneth. She was the great grandmother of Oliver Daw and the sister of Jean Salisbury, Margaret Tadiello and William Strahan.

Mrs. Canavan was the sister of the late James Strahan and Betty LaFontaine.

She was an avid Red Sox fan and loved cheering them on at Fenway Park or at home on her TV. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, and sharing laughs and luck with her sisters at the casino.

There will be a funeral service for Eleanor on Saturday, September 16th at 12:00 noon in the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket.

Her calling hours will be Saturday morning from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm prior to the service. www.manningheffern.com.
