Alec Wardyga Obituary

Alec Wardyga of Pawtucket passed into eternal life on July 12, 2018.

He was the husband of the late Julia (Bigos) Wardyga.

Alec was born in Plainville, Massachusetts, the son of the late Dmytro and Eva (Milecka) Wardyga. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII, retiring in 1985 after serving for more than 43 years.  His rank at retirement was Senior Chief Aviation Ordnanceman.

After the war, Mr. Wardyga went to work for the United States Postal Service, starting as a temporary substitute clerk and went on to become Manager of Finance and Personnel in the Pawtucket Post Office.  He was promoted to the position of Postmaster of the North Attleboro Post Office (Massachusetts) in 1979 from which he retired in 1981 after 38 years of postal service.

Alec is survived by his children; Beverly E. Brzezinski and her husband Edward of Cape Cod and Amherst, Massachusetts, Alec “Skip” Wardyga Jr. and his wife Dawn of Barrington, and Robert “Rick” Wardyga of Warren.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  He was the grandfather of the late Jason David Wardyga.

There will be a funeral service for Alec on Wednesday, July 18th at 11:00 am in the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. His calling hours will be from 9:00 am on Wednesday morning prior to the service.

The burial for Alec will be with full Military Honors in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket. www.manningheffern.com.
