Thomas E. Gannon, 85, of Pawtucket passed away peacefully on June 16. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, Tom was a 1952 graduate of Bryant College. After college, Tom served in the United States Army for 2 years from 1952 – 1954. While stationed at Fort Dix, NJ, Tom was known to entertain officers with his drum playing and kept fellow servicemen fed by running a bootleg sandwich-making operation around the base. Upon his honorable discharge from service, Tom enjoyed a long career with Lawson-Hemphill in Central Falls, RI where he worked as a Vice President until his retirement in 2002. Tom was also a longtime member of the Pawtucket Country Club.

Tom was the son of the late James H. Gannon and Emma D. (Kennedy) Gannon. He was the husband of the late Aimee (Melillo) Gannon. Tom is survived by his daughter, Karen L. (Gannon) Brunelle and her husband Arthur Brunelle of Cumberland.

His words “Too old, too fast; too smart, too slow” were frequently shared with his granddaughter Kristen (Luttge) Gauthier and her husband James Gauthier; and his grandson Stephen Luttge and his wife Shannon (Hart) Luttge. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; Alexandra V. Gauthier, 10; Samantha D. Gauthier, 7; Geoffrey D. Luttge, 4; and Griffin K. Luttge, 11 months.

The funeral for Tom will be Wednesday, June 21, at 9:00 am from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Martyr's Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk Ma., at 10:00 am. His burial will be with full military honors in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pawtucket. The calling hours for Tom will be Tuesday from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
