Rev. Cornelius Blessington Lynch

The Reverend Cornelius Blessington Lynch, 89, of St. John Vianney Residence, Providence, RI, formerly of Pawtucket, RI, peacefully passed away on September 25, 2017 surrounded by his Family.  He was the son of the late William J. and Anna S. Lynch and is predeceased by his brothers William, Dennis, John and his sister Margaret, his sister-in-law Ann, and his nephew Dennis. He is survived by his sisters-in-law Irene Lynch and Eleanor Lynch and his nieces and nephews: William Lynch, Michael Lynch and Erin Lynch; Laura Lynch, Bill Lynch, Ann Dugan, Linda Lynch, John C. Lynch, Peggy Lynch-Gadaleta, and Patrick Lynch; Mary Ellen Forty, Daniel Lynch, Therese Lunt, and Matthew Lynch  Thirty-one great nieces and nephews and four great-great nieces and nephews.

 Father Lynch was ordained on June 12, 1954 in the Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul, Providence, RI.  He served in the following parishes:  The Cathedral; Blessed Sacrament, Providence; St. Anthony, Providence; and Sacred Heart in Pawtucket.  He was Pastor of St. Maria Goretti, Pawtucket. He also served at St. Agnes, Providence and St. Raymond, Providence.  Father Lynch was a Missionary for sixteen (16) years.  He served in Santarem, Brazil with the Providence Diocese’s Missionary Teams and in Peru and Ecuador with the St. James’ Society.  For ten years, he was a Chaplain at the Department of Corrections and a volunteer of Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Rhode Island.

 His funeral will be celebrated at St. Raymond’s Church, Providence, on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10 a.m.  Visitation will be Friday, September 29th, 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket, RI.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fr.
