Raymond Edward Wynne

September 12, 1927 ~ March 22, 2015 (age 87) 87 Years Old


 Raymond E. Wynne of Pawtucket passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015. He was the husband of the late Rae F. Wynne.

Ray was born in Rumford, the son of the late James J. Wynne and Gertrude (Murray) Wynne.

He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. After the war Ray graduated from the Cincinnati College of Applied Arts and Science. He and his wife Rae owned and operated the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home in Pawtucket for over fifty years.

Ray was a long time communicant of St. Teresa’s Church in Pawtucket. He was a member of the Wannamoisett  Country Club in Rumford and a past president of the former To Kalon Club. Ray was the Assistant Treasurer and a member of the board of trustees of the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, and the past president and forty year member of the Pawtucket Lions.

He was a member board of trustee’s at the Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket for over thirty years and a member of the Century Club there.

Ray is survived by his children; Cathy Wynne Ellis of Aldie, Virginia, Raymond E."Ted" Wynne Jr., and his wife Susan of Lincoln, Steve Wynne and his husband Joe Gibbons of Wayland MA, and Jim Wynne and his wife Katie of Swampscott MA.  He is also survived by his grandchildren; Kathleen Flasco and her husband Zach, Libby Ellis, Raymond E. "Ted" Wynne III, Thomas A. Wynne, Andrew C. Wynne, Michael Wynne and Meghan Wynne and his brothers, Rev James J. Wynne III O.M.I., Clinton Wynne, and Dr. Kenneth J. Wynne and his wife Ann. He was the brother in law of the late Rosemary Wynne.

The funeral for Ray will be on Thursday, at 9:00 am from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa’s Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket at 10:00 am. His burial will be in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery. The calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 pm in the funeral home.
