James George Mustakos

February 19, 1922 ~ July 31, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Mustakos, James, G., 95, of Beverage Hill Avenue, Pawtucket died Monday, July 31st, 2017 at the Oakhill Nursing Facility where he received very compassionate, loving care from the nurses (Angels on Earth) who took excellent care of him for the last two years of his life.

He was the loving husband of Jennie (Bozas) Mustakos for the fifty-six years they were married. James was born in Providence, a son of the late George and Despina (Andreopoulos) Mustakos.  He was also the brother of his late sisters, Mary Ryan and Katherine Henderson.

James served his country proudly in WWII in the U.S. Army participating in the Allied Invasion of Normandy.  After leaving the service, he attended Bryant College in Providence under the GI Bill.  He was employed by the William K. Toole Co. for twenty-nine years.

James is survived by his loving daughter, Dorothea and her husband Arthur from Cranston.  He leaves his two grandchildren, whom he adored, Dr. John A. Kazianis (Dr. Evgenia Litrivis) from Stamford, CT and Gia Jeas (Andrew) from Needham, MA and three great-grandchildren, Thea, Eva and George.  He also leaves his beloved nieces and nephews.

James enjoyed singing in his church choir and loved to make people laugh.  He was a proud member of the American Legion.  Every Memorial Day he and his wife would go to Walnut Hill Cemetery and place American flags on all the Veterans’ graves.

There will be a Funeral Mass for James in the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket on Thursday, August 3rd at 10:00 AM.  Calling hours will precede the funeral service at the church at 9:15 AM.  Burial with full military honors will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, RI.  In lieu of flowers, donations in James’ name may be made to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
