Irene Anita (Lenzini) Desmarais

Irene A. Desmarais, 95, of Attleboro died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of the late Roland E. Desmarais who passed away February 2, 2011.  They had been married for 70 years. Mrs. Desmarais was born in Pawtucket, RI on November 6, 1922, the daughter to the late Michael and Teresa (Boffi) Lenzini.

She worked most of her life in her parents family restaurant – Teresa’s Spaghettis Place, in Pawtucket, RI. She later worked at Josten’s before retiring. Irene was a long time communicant of St. Mary’s now Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Seekonk, MA.

Mrs. Desmarais truly enjoyed owning three race horses with her husband and attending the races for many years.  Most of all she enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her new addition aa great-great-granddaughter.

Irene is survived by her son Dennis Desmarais and his partner Georgeanna of Spring Hill, Florida and her daughter JoAnn Galligan and her husband Paul of Pocasset, MA, and her daughter-in-law Linda Desmarais of Attleboro, MA. She also leaves nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was the mother of the late Wayne (Skip) Desmarais and the sister of the late John and Allie Lenzini.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Irene on Wednesday, April 4th at 11:00 AM in St. Teresa’s Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket.  Her calling hours will be Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM in MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket, RI. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery.
