Clare M. (Healy) Hird passed away on September 29, 2016 at South County Hospital in Wakefield, RI. surrounded by her loved ones.  She was the wife of the late William L. Hird, Sr. and the daughter of the late James and Nora (Sullivan) Healy.  She was the mother of Joseph and James, who did not survive long after their births.  She was the sister of the late James Healy and his wife Barbara, Mary Brugman and her husband Richard and William Healy. She is survived by her sister in law Aileen (Sis) Healy.   She is survived by her four children Marilynn Kernan and her husband Kevin of Warwick, William L. Hird, Jr. of Warwick, Kathleen Hamill and her husband Ron of South Kingstown and Joanne Aunchman and her husband Michael of Warwick.  She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Sarah K. Ullman and her daughter Hannah, Rachel J. Berman and her son Noah, Sean C. Hamill, his son Corey and twins who will be born any day now, Benjamin L. Hamill, Brian W. Aunchman, Brendan M. Aunchman and Dylan P. Aunchman, and many nieces and nephews.

Clare loved to watch her grandchildren’s sports games and was a big New England Patriots fan.  She enjoyed spending time each summer on Cape Cod.  She was a communicant at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea church in Narragansett.  Clare had worked at the Pawtucket City Hall, the Pawtucket School Administration Building, Cunningham School and Shea High School.  She also worked at Fred Smith Dodge and Wakefield Prescription Center.  Clare was always on the go and always available to help her friends or relatives at any time. 

She will be remembered as an extremely generous woman whom you could always count on.  We will deeply miss Clare/Mom/Nana/Gigi.  She is at peace now and will suffer no more.  May God bless and keep her safe until we see her smiling face again one day. 

The funeral for Clare will be Monday at 9:00 am from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Pine Street, Pawtucket at 10:00 am. Her burial will be in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket. The calling hours for Clare will be Sunday from 2-5 in the funeral home. www.manningheffern.com
