After the Civil War, cabinetmaker, Patrick J. Manning entered the funeral
profession serving the needs of local immigrants. He was joined by his sons Joseph and Daniel Manning who together formed The Manning Funeral Home.

The name was later changed to The Manning-Heffern Funeral Home upon the arrival of James M. Heffern, grandson of founder, Patrick Manning. James Heffern served as funeral director from 1922 until his death in 1963. Lincoln F. Moro joined the firm in 1941 and served until his death in 2005.
Raymond E. Wynne has been with the funeral home since 1950 and continues as company President today. Both Lincoln Moro and Raymond Wynne's sons, Ted Wynne and Jim Moro presently serve on the professional staff as licensed funeral directors and embalmers.
